Original description as Xenotilapia longispinis burtoni:

ZooBank:B9B5610A-1659-4C87-833B-C2A8C2DF4292.

  • Poll, Max. 1951.

Conservation: Xenotilapia burtoni is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (VU) vulnerable (2006). Possibly Xenotilapia burtoni will be raised to a higher level of threat if additional survey finds its habitat to be declining from the observed threats of sedimentation known to occur in Burton Bay.
