Conservation: Saxatilia coppenamensis is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (LC) least concern (2020). Saxatilia coppenamensis is present in two different river basins, the Coppename and the Saramacca in central Suriname, where there are few human impacts besides sporadic illegal gold mining (Taphorn & Rodríguez-Olarte, 2022).
