Conservation: Labidochromis chisumulae is evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species as (VU) vulnerable (2006). Labidochromis chisumulae has a rather small distribution area but is a rather common sight around Chizumulu Island. It is too small to appear as by-catch in seines and also because it remains very close to the rocky substrate. So there are no indications that this species is threatened or may become so in the foreseeable future.
