Original description as Pelvicachromis drachenfelsi:

  • Lamboj, Anton & D. Bartel & E. dell'Ampio. 2014. "Revision of the Pelvicachromis taeniatus-group (Perciformes), with revalidation of the taxon Pelvicachromis kribensis (Boulenger, 1911) and description of a new species". Cybium. v. 38(n. 3), pp. 205-222 (crc06434) (abstract)

Conservation: Pelvicachromis drachenfelsi is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. As far as I could see over a period of nearly 20 years, the habitat seems to be stable, but regarding to the fact that the species had been found on just two localities it is to assume that total population size is not very big, so aquarium conservation seem to be useful.
