Original description as Chalinochromis cyanophleps:

ZooBank:B9DD994C-F728-4B8E-B080-6EE2E0F078FF.

Conservation: Chalinochromis cyanophleps is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. The fact that C. cyanophleps seems to be restricted to reefs and small islands off the coast may be an indication that it is vulnerable to competition from other species and also that its actual living space is very restricted to the rocky habitats surrounding such areas. Even though there is currently no threat known, the small population size of C. cyanophleps makes it automatically vulnerable to extinction.
