Conservation: Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. According to Loureiro & al. 2016:161, Gymnogeophagus terrapurpura is abundant throughout its range, and no specific threats have observed. Thus, it could be categorized as “least concern” according to the IUCN criteria.
