Conservation: Benthochromis horii is not evaluated by the international union for the conservation of nature in the iucn red list of threatened species. Benthochromis horii occurs in huge numbers in very deep water which is currently not targeted by local fishermen. Some breeding males are sometimes caught by hook and line fishermen, but the species is currently not threatened by overfishing.
