" A Lake Malawi cichlid of the Pseudotropheus zebra group is described. The males of the species are gold (sensu Barlow 1976). The behavior and ecology of this species which is endemic to the Maleri Islands is discussed in light of previous hypotheses concerning the evolutions of cichlid gold coloration. "
