Keep them preciously, it is so important to succeed in reproduction of this species,
Next week, I will ask Haplo group from France , how it goes with their strains!

Do you know what is the situation in Germany about this?

In Belgium we don't have yet!

See you,

Come back quicker than expected as I get the news
from France : they have same kind of group around (20) with more males than females (5/1) , and no reproduction yet
from Germany : they don't have

This evening was pretty amazing in my pyrrhocephalus tank. There was four males holding territory, and one female that was spawning with all four males. I also think there is more females that will spawn soon. :)

Hi Albin
I noticed that when i kept this species , the females did spawn with 2 or3 males in the same time, I observed this also with H.argens. congrats for the success of the spawn.

A quick pic of some tiny fish (3cm at most), paper thin and tired from the trip. These are from Axel and/or Albin's stock. They are the "old" strain collected quite a few years ago. Image

A big news, so important specie to keep and spread around!
The strain collected in the lake recently , is probably hybrid , this one, the old from 87, is the original strain?
Have fun with them,

Yes, my fry are from the 1987 collection of Leiden. IgV: Axel, Albin, Marco and others at Cichlidenwelt.de all organized the shipment.
A picture after a week or so (bottom fish). I have at least ten. I say at least because it was late when I put them in the tank, now I will have to net them to count them....

Can anyone ID the top fish?
