Tanganyikan Cichlids in their Natural Habitat Vol 3

Post by Didgeridoo » Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:14 am

I'm eagerly awaiting the launch of Ad's new book! Any idea when this book is to launch? Also wondering where I'd be able to purchase!?

Just wondering if anyone has heard the good word. =)

Nick

I've been told that Old World Exotic Fish will be selling it. It is supposed to be ready for sale by the end of this month.

Steven Simpson Books out of England is advertising it as well. 450 pages and 1,760 photos. Should be the most comprehensive and amazing book on the cichlids from the lake ever published.

First volume was published in 1988 and the second in 1998.

Ad's website, Cichlid Press, says about this book: 408 pages, 1200+ color photos

Not sure where Steve Simpson Books got their info from, indicating 450 pages and 1,760 photos

Up until a couple of days ago, Cichlid Press indicated that the book would be out by March 1. Today it now says March 15.

I agree Phillipe. I only touched upon some issues in my review of the book recently posted onto Cichlidae.com and on various sites on Facebook. Poor quality print, missing species, strangely incorrect information, etc.

Steve Simpson Books out of England still continues to incorrectly list this book with 450 pages and 1,760 photos.

I have bought a few years ago a very nice book about european orchids. Same size, but very high quality.
less expensive !
Just because it was published with a subscription (I don't know exactly in english)
You pay before the publication (but the price is lower than if you pay after) so, the editor has the money , knows how many books to print (and a few more of course).
Maybe this is the way Ad would follow in the future.
It's quite a pity that his wonderfull pictures are not at their best.

(I don't speak about the text itself because i have no time to read it - I've got the book today - ) but I know I don't agree with many point of view about classification and names used.

I book the ibook version of Tangyanyikan Cichlids in their Natural Habitat, 3rd Edition (not Vol. 3).

The ibook version does not suffer printing problems. Photos are very clear on my ipad display. As a bonus you can even zoon. There are also photos that are actually videos which can play when you click on them.

The price is about half (and of course free shipping) of the printed version.

If you use itunes wisely, and acquire itunes gift cards through discounts (20%, 25%). The book may cost as little as 30 dollars.
