geophagus sp.alto sinu

Post by arthur.platt » Fri Mar 31, 2017 11:51 am

It looks like i going to get a few geophagus sp.alto sinu and i can find absolutely no information on them. Anybody know anything about these? I was told they look similar to G. Pelligrini. Any help is appreciated.

You are right it is member of the same species group (undescribed genus) than 'G.' pellegrini. Within this group, it is closest to 'G.' steindachneri. Probably (judging from the few photos I have seen) it is just a geographic variant of that species, which has been recorded from Río Sinú basin in the scientific literature. The geographic variation is not well documented, however.
