Redline Severum/Raspberry Severum

Post by TheFishGuy » Sun Sep 11, 2016 10:46 am

Hi folks, I just picked up nine of each of these today. Internet searches have come up with a wide range of pictures. I'm curious as to what these will look like as adults.
Mine are currently only the size of a quarter but I can tell they are not of the orange or gold variety.
If someone's keeping these and has adults I'd love to see pictures!
Thanks, Jonathan

Hi Jonathan. Any chance you could post a picture. When small, the 'red spotted' variety look a lot like golds, but start to increase the red markings at around 2.5". Some of the 'red spotted' have red horizontal lines across the body, I'm just wondering if someone has just 're-branded' the 'red-spotted' to 'red-lined'/'raspberry' ?

Here's a video of the "redline" severum in the 240.

Interesting. Well, as you say they're not golds or red spotted. I did have some gold x rotkeil that produced some fry with reduced banding and a paler overall look; maybe these are something similar. Horizontal red bands are usually a sign of some 'mouthbrooding' bloodline maybe? I think you'll be the only one able to answer your question :) .

Thanks for the kind words, weve got three display tanks, the 240, a 185 and a 1200.
