Best Crenicichla book?

Post by Piotr Koba » Fri Jun 17, 2011 2:22 pm

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question: is there any really good book about Crenicichla? I mean something like T. Weidner's about Eartheaters. Or should I focus on Die Buntbarsche Amerikas 3 by Stawikowski & Werner?
Cheers
Piotr

That's a great question for Vinny Kutty. You can probably find him on Facebook under Vin Kutty. Let us know what you find out.

Dear Piotr,
I like the book by Stawikowski & Werner Buntbarsche Amerikas 3. It includes every single known species and information about 'Aquarium care', habitats and taxonomy. This book is my major source for this kind of Cichlids.
There are some rumors in Germany that there will be a new book about Crenicichla & Co coming out soon (more specific and comprehensive).
Greetings, IS

If you want to read about your fishes, apparently, the best choise is to learn German

I did, because I wanted to read about my fishes. How did I do it? German is related to my language, and it is also related to English, but far less similar. I just bought a book and started reading. It was about fishes, obviously

Later I heard Uwe Werner, one of the authers, is actually a teacher teaching French :)

From what I have heard, the German edition of the Crenicichla & Co book will be out fall this year. I dont know if its bilingual, or whether an English edition is planed or not. Actually, nowadays an English version should be printed for the international market. Anyway, as pointed out by Bas both languages English and German are similar (however by far not so similar as Dutch and German).

Is this the same book that the late Frank Warzel was working on?
