2017 Extravaganza Speakers

Post by LewC » Wed Mar 08, 2017 11:44 am

While still savoring the memories of the 2016 Extravaganza, we’re deep into preparations for Extravaganza 2017. In fact, we’ve already booked our full slate of speakers for this year’s show!

Of course, Ad Konings will be on hand. Ad continues to make trips to Lakes Malawi and Tanganyika, and graces us with new presentations yearly, sharing his latest findings and photographs. This will be Ad’s only US appearance at a large aquarist event this year.

For the first time, Wolfgang Staeck, from Germany, will appear at an Extravaganza. Wolfgang has spent a lifetime traveling to study cichlids in the wild, writing books for aquarists, and formally describing new cichlid species. He is a cichlid generalist, and has a surprising breadth of knowledge about them.

An Extravaganza favorite, Austrian Anton Lamboj, will be visiting us again, for the first time in 10 years. Anton specializes in West African cichlids. His talks are always enjoyable, and his return has been often requested.

Finally, the OCA will again introduce an exciting young researcher who is starting to make waves in the world hobby. Brazilian Luiz Tencatt is a catfish specialist who will be speaking at Ian Fuller’s “Catfish Study Group” in England later this month. The Extravaganza will be his first US appearance.

The next step is to determine presentation topics and titles, and that has already begun. We will keep you updated as we figure things out.

Looking forward to Extravaganza 2017 :)

Nice to see Anton Lamboj on the list, he is very passionate about fish and their biotope in general :D
