I have volume 1, 2 and 3 and it is a crime that they do not exist in the English language. These books are absolutely amazing and should be a "must have" for all lovers of SA cichlids. It is way beyond me why these books have not been translated yet and can only hope that very soon somebody will wake up and get this done.

As far as I know, the writers do think differently - they might be against translating them, and copyright rules does give them the oppotunity to keep translations away

So, dear fellow fishfriends, lessons of German

I = Ich
You = du (polite form Sie)
he = er
she = sie
it = es
we = wir
you (plural) = euch
them = sie

the polite form of you, thus Sie, is used as third person, plural

You go is thus du gehts, or Sie gehen

I own those wonderful books. The books are not planned to be published in English as far as I know, Rainer Stawikowski told me personally that some years ago. Unless they have changed their mind. I don't want to be cynic but it is not a surprise for me that this is the case, I am going to be bitter here. in fact I believe that very few people really care for this kind of information and much less are willing recognize its value and to pay for it. Many people prefer to kill thousands of dollars of fish and not knowing about them but to save in buying books. Publishers have to make a profit. I remember Ad Konings wonderful Cichlids Yearbooks, they were gone because people would not buy them (Just the German version was sold in enough numbers), that was probably the best publication around about cichlids at their time and it was very sad for me they were gone. French people have the Anne cichlide but in English even Cichlid News magazine struggle to survive with a very small number of subscribers. The Cichlid Room Companion is not and exception, the page is in English but most of the subscribers are not native English speaking people.

Juan, you hit the nail right on the head. I had this discussion with Ad Konings because I was hoping to see a new edition of his Tanganjika book soon. The Malawi book is already in it's 4th edition. He told me the same thing. Not enough interest / buyers. It appears that everybody is an expert already and books are not necessary any longer. :( :( :(

sounds like a old song about the video and the radio star - internet killed the cichlid books... I think I own a small used car in cichlid books, magazines, bulletins and video value. I also dream about a book writing about central american cichlids. so please Juan make something about it :D
