Can anyone tell me what kind of cichlid this is? I recently was given two of these cichlids and he didn't know what they were so they're a mystery to me. Thank you for your input.

There´s Vieja in it, but most certainly more than one species.

A red head is seen in V synspilus (now melanurus, but melanurus look differently), or in V bifasciatum, but the firs has a shorl bas lengthwise, the second has aon alng it´s belly and a second (bi) higher, with is more a black area.

The shape of your fish reminds me somewhat of V fenestratum, which has vertical and horizontal lines - the vertical ones are missing

What it is? A mixture of several species. Can´t tell which

Thank you so much for your info. I looked for weeks and didn't come to a conclusion as to what it was. It makes more sense that it's a mix of several cichlids. I could have been looking forever. :? Have a wonderful day! :D

Beautiful fish for sure. I wouldn't have guessed there was Vieja in it for sure.
