Collecting in El Salvador? Locations needed.

Post by thangtamfive » Tue Jul 18, 2017 12:11 pm

A friend of mine is going to El Salvador in a few days and would like to collect some cichlids. He has gone a couple times before and collected a great strain of P. motaguensis. He is specifically looking for A. macracanthus this time, and is also open to just about any cichlid species there.

So, any information about collecting points or just general information would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I’m from Uruguay but live in El Salvador since 2004…beautiful country.
For Macracanthus you can go to Lago Coatepeque, they would be the safest place to collect, is called Mojarra negra here.
In this lake you can also found V. guttulatus, P. managuensis, A. coatepeque.
Macracanthus is also found in Lago Ilopando and Guija, in Guija you can also found mota’s and dovii, but they aren´t pretty safe places to collect.

Sorry for my English… :?
