Astatheros robertsoni Jutiapa: Pair with Eggs

Post by Jim Cumming » Fri Mar 14, 2014 5:26 pm

After a two year hiatus from putting down a spawn, one of my three pairs has "done the deed" again. This species, as well as other Astatheros that I've had, stress easily and do not do well when there are more aggressive fish in with them. I recently removed a large pair of P. breidohri that spawned continuously in there, carrying out a bit of a reign of terror on the other inhabitants, robertsoni included. The tank dynamic has changed for the better as far as the more peaceful members go. And the result is evident.

Thank you Juan Miguel. Last night I observed another pair setting up to spawn about a foot away from this first pair. I guess 'love is in the air'. I couldn't resist taking a video.
