Are grammodes nocturnal?

Post by cbudd » Mon Nov 18, 2013 8:46 pm

I have noticed that my grammodes becomes much more active at/after dusk. I was wondering if it is just my fish in particular or is this observed by anyone else?

Many of the predatory fish species are very wary and hunt during the dusk and dawn times, and in the shadows. Birds and reptiles are their major enemies, and easier to avoid in that light.
My grammodes were always very aware of their surroundings, noticing and reacting to every movement and shadow.
They were always hard to take photos of because of this awareness of movement around them.
The only times grammodes were bold in my tanks, was when guarding a spawn.

Makes perfect sense. I have him in my room and about 75% of the time he hovers at the front of the tank watching me, any sudden movements and it's back to the cave.
