ACA 2007 Convention Sacramento - Who's going?

Post by Tommy » Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:44 am

The annual convention of the American Cichlid Association is located in Sacramento this year, hosted by the Sacramento Aquarium Society. This year's event promises to be one to remember, and we sincerely hope that you will make plans to join us in California this July!

Online registration is easy at the official Convention Website.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this year for the first time since I've started going, due to high airfare, hotel issues and a few other things, so a few of us who are regular attendees are doing a saltwater thing this time.
We will be in Atlanta next year though. :)

Well, I was hoping to start a streak, this would have been 3 in a row. Unfortunately, 5 months of unemployment sort of screwed that up. Maybe Atlanta, I have a cousin there that I can stay with!

Out of curiosity, what was wrong with the hotel? Is it the non-smoking thing?

I hate to admit it and get blasted, but yes, the smoking issue played a part in it for me. I could have made that work, but between that and the $1000 + airfare for me, and having to stay in another hotel, it just wasn't in the cards for my group of friends this year. :(

There are some great rates on Southwest into Sacramento... Northwest as well.

I found a roundtrip, direct (on Yahoo Travel) for less than $300 and package with hotel for 5 days for $550...

I live here and travel a lot on business; it's far superior in terms of cost and ease of getting in and out than either San Franciso or Oakland. Too bad you're going to miss out!

I know, I'm going to miss being there this year.

I realize that the rates out of MSP are way less (or did you find them that low out of Hibbing?), but that would mean an extra day off work and another 400 miles to drive round trip, so in the long run it's still not economical.

We can't go. Went on a trip to Australia instead. Something had to give, and unfortunately it was ACA. :(

Well, can't say that I'm too sympathetic to those who can't drive to an ACA this year. Most of the time it's us on the West Coast who have to pay a lot to travel to an association convention with national credentials.
