TANK MATES

Post by FishguyBilly » Thu Dec 27, 2018 2:44 am

I have been gifted a bunch of American cichlids such as 1 Jack Dempsey, 2 firemouth, 1 blue acara, 1 chocolate cichlids and I have 9 silver dollars. All fish are small and the same size but I originally wanted a Oscar so what are people’s thiughts about getting a small Oscar probably smaller than the rest of the fish in a 260L tank with a lot of hiding spots ?? Cheers

An oscar will grow, if kept decently to 18 cm in a year. It wil lreach 30 cm in 3 years, and your tank is far, far too small for that kind of monsters.

So please, don't do that

If you feed it well it’ll reach a foot in a year, so definitely needs a big tank.

I feel like your tank is a bit small for such species considering the fact that it seems already crowded with the existing fish on the tank.
