can anyone help me with my water?

Post by hd1340ccrider » Sat Nov 10, 2012 11:03 am

not sure how to get over my water problem. i have an api test kit and test my water religiously. my ph stays at a steady 7.6 to 7.8, my nitrite stays 0, my ammonia stays between 0 and .25, but my nitrate i cant get lower than 40, even after weekly water changes of 25%. i tested my water supply (city water) and readings come up 0. i have a 75 gal breeder tank, have a 3" bed of aragonite reef sand (80lbs), treated sand stone i got from the beach (atlantic ocean) and several plants. i use a purigen pouch in my marineland magnum 350 canister filter and treat my water as scheduled with special blend microb-lift. what am i doing wrong or not doing?

Have you tested your tap Waterford nitrates?
Just when you think you know it all, life has this way of humbling you.
All of parachromis and most of caquetaia growing out or breeding now.
