Jewels Spawned

Post by William » Tue Oct 18, 2005 10:26 am

My pair of Jewel Cichlids spawned adout five days ago but yesterday I noticed that most of the eggs where missing. The pair where staying in the cave. Later that night I noticed all the eggs where missing. I read that they move there eggs just before they hatch. Is this true or have they eaten the eggs. This is their first spawn and I have heard that they often eat thier eggs the first time.

Faulty do you know any places in SA where Cichlids are found in the wild

I would suspect that the eggs have hatched and they just moved the fry to a safer spot.....

Hi William,
If you find any hemichromis species "in the wild" in South Africa, they are most likely escapees, because they are normally found in Western Africa, up around where we call the Ivory Coast areas.
