ID of this fish pictured is required.

he seems to be open water swimmer and not shy at all, also seems to have black on fin tips and blueish underbelly, was aquired today by a work mate who was given them by a kids school friend who put them in his tank and it ate all the livebearers.

seems to have woken up my tank as all my current tankmates are swimming around alot more than usual.

here is the image sorry about the poor quality

Probably a Serranochromis.
The only one recorded in South Africa is, following FishBase, Serranochromis meridianus

http://www.fishbase.org/Country/Country ... meridianus

The picture published in Lamboj's book seems to agree with this ID.

common name seems to be largemouth Kurper and he seems to be like a bit of a pest in my tank, i think he will be going to another tank soon
