ok today i got 4 jewels there in a quarantine tank for now would they be good with firemouths i did notice at the lfs they had both together also in my 90 i want to change the substrate i have 7 firemouths in there and that is the tank i want to add the jewels to as the background is black and the substrate is black also

IMHO the Jewels and Firemouths will get along fine - until the Jewels get bigger and/or start breeding - then the pair of jewels will probably kill all the firemouths, and maybe even their conspecifics. Firemouths aren't known to be as aggressive as a lot of the other Central American cichlids. Jewels are considered one of the most aggressive West African cichlids.
