It does not look like any American species I'm familiar with, but the very large eyes could mean it is stunted. And stunted fish can be very hard to name, as they certainly do not look like they should look

I'm not sure it's even a Cichlid. Just something about the fish that I can't define from that photo. You might want to look at some Leaffishes, or possibly Datnoides spp.

I also don't think its cichlid.... but the seller said its a cichlid and he was unable to tell the proper name of this fish (its india)..... thanks everyone.

and I also think that the fish had defects when my father bought it from LFS
