Pike cichlid ID help

Post by Schnauzer » Sat Apr 29, 2006 6:41 am

I have had this pike since it was about 6". It is now at least 10". I have been keeping fish for 5 years this year and have never seen a fish grow as fast es this fish.

I thought it was a johanna but now with the color change it has been suggested to me that it might br Cr.lugubris. Can anyone give an ID?
What ever it is I like this girl. Lots of personality.

Oh and before anyone asks thats my 11 year ojd 15 1/4' Mannys tail and anal in the first shot.

this is Crenicichla johanna because the fish have nostrils close to the lip. And Crenicichla lugubris have three black blotchs, one behind eye, one behind pectoral fin and one on the base of caudal

Thanks Florent. I thought it was Johanna all along. I didn't know about the black blotches on Cr.lugubris.
Thanks again, I appreciate it.
