Babes In The Cichlid Hobby
“Celebrating 15 years of “Excellence Thru Experience”

This year at the American Cichlid Associations Annual Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio (July 30 – August 2, 2009) the Babes In The Cichlid Hobby will be holding our 9th Annual Silent Auction to raise money for Cichlid Research & Cichlid Conservation. This famous auction raises funds for the Guy D. Jordan Endowment Fund, Paul V. Loiselle Conservation Fund and Stuart M. Grant Cichlid Conservation Fund. All very worthy causes, please, please, please bring your donations to the ACA convention, remember anything fish related is welcome! Back by popular demand the Babes In the Cichlid Hobby will also be officiating the Guy D. Jordan Endowment Fund Oral Auction. You won’t want to miss this lively fish auction on Friday night.

Our goal is to promote Cichlid Research and Cichlid Conservation, hand in hand with awareness and responsibility. We can’t do it alone; we will need your help! Are you aware that natural occurring cichlid species are falling through our hands and will likely never be seen in the hobby again if we don’t start maintaining them? All you need is a copy of an ACA Trading Post printed in the 1990’s and you will see fish listed that are not available in the hobby today. This shows how important and how valuable the ACA C.A.R.E.S. Program is to ACA members. New species are continually added to the list and members will be able to access natural occurring cichlids whose habitats are deteriorated and/or no longer imported.

Responsibility is a big part of the hobby, are you holding up your end? Are you keeping a Cichlid Diary; recording what species you buy, the correct scientific name and location site? Or are you the guy selling the bag of mixed Aulonocara? Be a responsible hobbyist; don’t sell anything that you would not buy yourself. Right now it is an exciting time to keep Cichlids and you can make a difference in the hobby!! Join us in Cincinnati to help save and study naturally occurring Cichlids!

News Flash: Dr. Paul V. Loiselle has just donated a Stan Sung ORIGINAL PAINTING of Tanganyikan Cichlids; “Tanganyikan Dreams” – Bid often and bid high!!
