Marineland 360 or Fluval 405 ???

Post by sschneider » Sun Jan 04, 2009 8:07 pm

I have a 75 gallon tank with african cichlids. I currently use an Emperor 400 filter, which has worked great for 5 years.but I want to upgrade to a canister filter.I am not new to fishkeeping but I am new to canister filters. The two brands I am considering are the Marineland 360 or the Fluval 405.I took a look at the Eheim 2028 but just didn't see the bang for the buck. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons for each. The fish tank is in my living room therefor it will have to be as silent as possible.

If you want silent as possible, then you want Eheim.

Never dealt with Eheim, but I do have a Fluval 405. It seems to work great for me. I cannot tell it's running it's so quiet.
YMMV.

marineland is way better and I will tell you why my neighbor bought one don't hear a word and does a good job of getting debris out of the water and keep fish healthy invest in one of those...

I am fimilair with all 3. There is no comparison Eheim is far more superior. I have been running Eheims (5) for almost 16years with no problems. I have also purchased the fluval 405 (2) about 7years ago. My close friend in the hobby also purchased his fluval at the same time none of our fluvals are running. Also his Eheim is 10yrs old with no problems. Now I am not saying I would not buy another fluval it is made by Hagen and I like there products. My problem with the fluval is the side handles broke and I know others with the same problem. The marineland after looking it over I did not feel was good long lasting quality.
