any one build a plywood tank

Post by jabones » Sun Apr 11, 2010 7:47 pm

hello all
I've been thinkin about building a 400 gal? 8ftx4ftx2ft tank useing plywood, and epoxy. I Iwanted to see what epoxies you have experience with. What plywoods have you used marine grade? furniture grade. Can acrylic be sealed with silicon? I want to put in an overflow.
Thanks Jason

I built a plywood tank although it was about 150 gallons I used fiberglass resin on 3/4" plywood and then sealed the glass to it using silicone other than the strong smell from the resin it turned out pretty good it held water just fine only thing is we moved and I had it sitting outside at the new house i dont know why I stood it up but the wind knocked it over shattering the glass byebye plywood tank anyway ill be attempting like you an 8'x4'x2' this summer
