Tetra Publications

Post by Alaskacichlid » Wed Dec 30, 2015 12:30 pm

I have been out of the cichlid keeping for a while. I was wondering if Tetra have published any more books pertaining to Central and South American cichlid. :D
Been keeping aquariums off and on for 45 years, concider myself an old amateur. I really enjoy the smaller Central and South American cichlids. I have moved into a condo so I don't have any fish anymore. Very unfortunate.

I will clarify the above. I was pertaining to two books published by Tetra called American Cichlids I Dwarf Cichlids and American Cichlids II Large Cichlid. Thanks. :D

Were these also published in English? I got the large cichlid in German, but I did not use it much.

The 2 English versions are the same as those first published in German in the early-mid-80s. Later, updated editions exist, but only in German AFAIK.

The best series on Neotropical cichlids IMHO are "Die Buntbarsche Amerikas 1, 2, & 3" but these are rather old, published in the late 90s to early 2000s.

unfortunatly only in german !
But they are the best, of course.
A few more books have been published later ; such as "south american eartheaters or books published (in French) by the french cichid association about french guyana or central american cichlids. .
There is also "Dwarf cichids" by Mayland & Bork.

Tetra publications are a bit too much old.

Why learn German?

For this series of corse. Actually, I live 20 km from Germany, but I learned German because I wanted to read this series prequel. Amerikanischer Barsche - Mittelamerika. By the same writers
