Pelmatochromis nigrofasciatus spawning

Post by Darrell Ullisch » Thu Sep 15, 2005 10:01 pm

Here's a shot of the pair with their first batch of eggs in a long 30 gallon tank. I bought them at the ACA convention in Fort Worth, less than two weeks later they spawned. This batch was eaten, so I pulled their next one, have about 300-400 fry a month old today.

I should have plenty of young at a decent size by the time the Ohio Extravaganza rolls around.

My water isn't particularly soft, definitely wasn't acid. Had the temp at about 80 F. Fed them Blackworms after the first spawn, I think that's why they spawned again in only 9 days. They haven't had another spawn since I pulled them, but they're not fighting.
There are two kinds of error: blind credulity and piecemeal criticism. Sound skepticism is the necessary condition for good discernment; but piecemeal criticism is an error. - Egyptian proverb
