dear ken, when i was down there the last time in 2002, i additionally braught c. myrnae and a. bussingi (and some poeciliids). the myrnae and the convicts are doing quite well in my tanks. i had to give away the bussingi since they were too aggressive for my small tanks. so, it is really time to get...

hey all,

in my opinion, the name Maylandia has priority. So, Metriaclima is a junior synonym of Maylandia. Since there is an excellent text by Michael Oliver (http://www.malawicichlids.com/mw01012.htm) which brings all the arguments I have, I don't write a longer text here ;o))

just ba the way:

a new cichlid of the "cichlasoma" facetum group was also described in the same issue of copeia as the cyphotilapia species was described. The new species is called 'Cichlasoma' scitulum and is described by Rican & Kullander.

dear johny, i totally agree with juan's statement. there some further problems: although the phylogene of the major lineages (eg relationships of lake victoria and malawi haps compared to the tribes in lake tanganyika) as well as phylogenetic analysis of smaller species groups are available, our phy...

i really doubt wheather there's more than one species.... since all two (three) species seem to be allopatric and are differentiated only by subtle characters (three instead of two scales between upper and lower lateral line and some meristic characters). these differences could be interpreted as po...
