Re: Juvenile Satanoperca- leucosticta???

I personally would say Leucosticta - the spangling on the ckeeks seems evident to me even at the small size.

Re: Disaster in the Cichlidarium

I believe that this tank is build quite differently than any tanks that I have ever seen. . . It appears to me that the front, rear and side panels are "outside" the tanks bottom rather than built on top of it. I believe that a rock may have shifted and fell to the bottom (or on to another rock) and...

Very beautiful Geo! I haven't seen these before - thanks so much for the pics. Are the requirements similar to other Geos with regards to maintenance?

Re: Geophagus "tapajos orange head"

They are great looking fish - I have a bit of a stupid question though . . . why do some call them "orange head" and others call them "red head". Have I missed something and assumed that they are the same? I have kept "red head" and wonder what the difference is (if any at all).

Thanks

Re: maternal instincts?

Thanks for the input. I found it odd and quite a coincidence that removal of the male meant the end of the fry - there were a good 50 of them - all gone in 20 minutes or less. He is in with a different female today - maybe she will be a "better" mom

maternal instincts?

I just watched one of my female Tomocichla Seiboldii eat the last of her fry  . . . The male was keeping her pinned in a crack in the rock work, I assumed that it was because of the usual male aggression so I removed him. Now I am wondering if he was protecting the fry from her? Has anyone ev...

Thanks very much for the help. I also had the local importer/distributor here in Winnipeg (some of you may know him) have a look at the fish - he has agreed with your responses.

Congratulations on the spawn! They're beautiful. I really like the spawning dress of the female! Very unique! ;) Any tips or triggers for the spawn? Keep us posted on the progress please. BC Thanks, but . . . I can't really take any credit for their success, the only part I played was adding the wa...

Which Geo's do I really have???

I know that I am the new guy . . . but, I have been a lurker for quite a while. I thought that I would post a couple pics I took of my new Geophagus sp. - they were given to my by some relatives that are leaving the province. Please give me your expert opinions on what they are. The first is about 7...
