Re: Jack Dempsey Help

Here in MN, they dont sell well. Posted them on the local fish msg board and CL. 3-4 months ago, I tried to sell regular JD's, Blue Gene Jack Dempsies, BG breeding pairs, and no one was interested. Even the pet stores didnt want them when I gave them free Blue Gene Jack Dempsies. All my fries that I...

Re: Jack Dempsey Help

Here are a few things that have helped me breed my JD's. 1. After 1 month or two of 10% water changes weekly, I do a large 50-75% water change. Make sure water is slightly cooler. 2. Feed healthy foods. I feed mine fish fry that I grow up. 3. I usually get 2-3 smaller JD's as dithers. 4. These fish ...

Thanks.

Re: A very blue Salvini?

There is a color type of Salvini like this. A friend of mine was able to get a few large pairs just like these a while ago. I regret that my large pair died. This color type is blue, not yellow. Not sure what to call this type, but I have seen other pics of some just like this in Europe. Its very ha...

I would say I have had these fish for 3 weeks. All are shy to eat, but when they are hungry, they sure do make a sprint for the food. I do know that 5 red devils is not suitable for a 30 gallon tank. I purchased 5 of them because they are about 1.5 inches right now and I will assume that they will p...

Shy fish

I recently purchased a large black male convict and a female convict. I placed them in a 20 long gallon tank and I plan to breed them soon. I also recently purchased 5 red devils and placed them in a 30 gallon tank. It seems that all my cichlids are really sensitive and scared. Whenever I walk into ...

Convict crossed to Red Devil

A few years back at a LFS, I purchased a large 7 inch fat headed orange fish with black stripes. I asked the owner and he said someone sacrificed them. There were about 20 of them and I purchased the largest one I can find. I assume they are convicts crossed to a red devil. Have you done this cross ...
