lee i also would be very interested in those crassilabris, i've had them in the past but never spawned them, as for pellegrini i got a breeding group for jeff rapps last year, i have about 12 fry, these are the real deal these are not steindachneri.....

how deep: 10-15 feet of water
other fish: salvini, maculicauda, uro,i think i remember introduced managuense, mexican mollys, goby sp.

ok to end this confusion.....i collected this actual fish in oct in 2006 in guatemala at lake izabal, this fish in on a light substrate throwing the identification off this fish is a. spiliurus................any other questions?

its a small cenote called cenote azul (maybe just a made up name? was on a homemade wooden sign), on is on the mexican riviera, close to tulum....

juan, yes cenote azul is in the mexican riveria, the deformities i speak of were the pushed pug type faces, i do not know what the split fins were from i can tell you they were not from astyanax sp. since there were none present (a first for me i collected in mexico, guatamala, costa rica and texas ...

just got back on thurs had a "very good time", only had time to collect/fish 2 days (not even full days) saw/collected rhamdia sp., n. uropthalmus, a. octofasciatus and the biggest salfin mollies i ever saw, some of the big old humped backed males were easily over 5", in cenote azul i did notice tha...
