as they were growing up i didn't know what they were saggittae, xiloaensis etc, as alot of these "supposedly new species" all look very similar as juvs and adults......as they grew up they look like amarillo to me now also...

Pic of Wild Mystery Amphilophus Sp. (Xiloa) Just a little history. I collected these in 2010 in Xiloa as inch to inch and a half juvs. As they grew up, i thought they were many different species. similar but more bulky, they look just like the sagittae pair towards the back of the "new species of Amphilophus from the crater lakes" book ...

Wild Mystery Amphilophus.....Ok here is a long drawn out story hahahaha, last year i collected some unidentified Amphilophus in Xiloa, when i caught them they were about 1 1/2", first i thought they were Xiloaensis (since thats were i got them, right? then as they started growing i thought Amarillo)...

wow thats too bad i was there when Zelaya was ousted had to walk through protesters over a bridge to get to the airport in 2009.....still have some fish from there, looking for a few Archocentrus Sp. Rio Mongo Males, anyone????

thanks for the info i was aware of the other species but never found any concrete info on "convicts" being there, as for chetumalensis i heard spilurum and chetumalensis were two described species? i heard spilurum from belize are very nice i brought back some from izabal a few years back, one of my...

i was in lake nicaragua in may 2010, i collected/ saw all of those species except spilurum, spilurum isn't even in the country....

i just brought back some Amphilophus sp. from Xiloa they were caught in shallow water 6" - 4', i was guessing Xiloaensis, how would i know, they are more slender bodied, they are about 2".....

hi all just got back yesterday, a special thank you to reagan and especially ken for his guidance and extensive knowledge of the area, i collected in the rio danto, rio arguan, rio jutiapa and rio monga, fish collected and saw were various livebearers, tetras, catfish, eel, goby sp.,sleepers, sucker...
