Re: cichlid resresilience

Great stories guys!!!! It is amazing how cichlids survive things like that. I once found a cory down in my basement sump pump, where the over flow from 5 10 gallon tanks goes. He must have been in there for weeks, no heat, no food, and the pump runs anytime it rains. I caught him and he's still aliv...

cichlid resresilience

While doing a water change Friday night I almost killed an entire tank of fish. All my tanks are drilled and have an overflow, so I can just stick a hose in and fill up the tank. After a short period the tank gets about a 10-20% water change. When I was finished with the whole fish room on Friday ni...

Re: new air pump questions

thanks guys. Yes I agree you must have a spare! Right now I do not have one and worry about what I would do if mine would fail. Obtaining a back up is my primary goal this weekend. Or maybe a new primary pump and my older one as a backup. I also hope to buy a rebuild kit for what ever I pickup this ...

new air pump questions

I think i'm going to get a backup air pump this year from kens at the extravaganza. Just wanted to see who is using the supreme brand pumps vs the Alita linear pumps. I was thinking about the supreme because I can get a rebuild kit or 2 and still save some $ over the same size alita. So anybody use ...

Re: Drain tile

That is not drain tile. Its structural terra cotta block, it was used to build foundations back in the early 1900's. The picture you have looks like a new tile though, so it may still be avalible. good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Drilling tanks for fishroom

i use 1 inch bulkheads for all my tanks from 10 gal to 180gal. I sometimes think they are too small for the larger tanks. So i cant see any reason you would want to go smaller even on the small tanks, that would just slow down the overflow. So save the cash and buy one size holesaw.
