Re: 100 gal Tang tank

I've always dealt with Greg @ Little Africa Aquatics. Very nice fish and he ships anywhere in the US and Canada. Hope this helps.

Re: Are You Ready?

If you don't register you can participate in everything EXCEPT the speakers talks, pizza party, and the hospitality sweet. I would strongly urge that you register, the speakers alone are worth the registration fee. Plus, I beleive you also get a one year membership for the OCA. Anyway my point is th...

Petrochromis & Tropheus Hybridizing

Hello Fellow Fish Keepers, I think I already know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway. If I place both Petrochromis and Tropheus in the same tank will they breed with each other? I'm not a fan of hybrid fish, if there is a chance I won't keep them together. I think the fish will be able to exist ...

Re: bap ?

Dave, Don't quote me on this but I think the fish must be at least 1" or at least six months of age. As for as taking your tank apart, I think the parents bond should be fine. They might not breed for a little while after the disruption would be the only draw back I think. Hopefully someone else can...

Re: New Tank

You should be fine if you take all of the substrate/items from your 30 and place it in the 72 along with some new to help fill out the bottom of the tank. Then I would run the old filter in conjunction with the new one for a few weeks. I haven't ever had any problems using this method. Hopefully som...

Re: Air System

Josh, I guess if someone told you to use 1 1/2" pvc then they must have some experience using it and it must have worked for them. It seems that it may be over kill from everthing that I have heard and used. I would try and restrict some of the air flow at the end and see if I could build up more pr...

Re: Air System

Josh, Your pipe maybe to large for the pump to supply that much volume and still maintain enough pressure to get the air down to your tanks. I have never heard of anyone using 1 1/2" pvc for their air supply lines. The largest I have used and heard of anyone using was 1" so they could maintain enoug...

Re: 115 gallon tank setup question

Henry, If it were me, I would make sure all sides of the tank are supprted. Either by adding another board to the inside of the stand to surrprt the side with a gap or some other method. A 115 tank is a sizable investment and I'm sure you don't want to clean up that much water on the floor. I know I...

Re: Lids Or No Lids?

I would advise against it. I had a bad mold issue when my tanks were uncovered. Also had a higher risk of a fish jumping out of the tank.

Re: Treating Bloat w/Clout

I feed them twice since there arrival. It was Ken's Premium veg. flakes (once) and/or spirulina discs (once). Just my guess, I feel it was due to stress from shipment. They are still a little on the small side.(1 1/4" to 1 1/2") this may have also contributed to the issues.

Re: Treating Bloat w/Clout

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked at them today and all seemed to be OK. I'm still a little weary so I changed about 40% of the water and added epsom salts and cranked up the heat to 82 degrees. I'm hopeful that a few days with a laxitive will do the trick. I will keep a close eye on them and if ...

Treating Bloat w/Clout

I recently purchased some Tropheus and they were doing fine for a few days after I received them. Then out of the blue several of them started to swell up like little sausages and had stringy white excrement. I immediately thought it was bloat so I started to treat with Clout. This was Sunday evenin...
