Re: multispinosus ‘Rio Tempisque’

Interesting stuff. I read an old article that echoes your intel. Would it be wrong to assume in these hot and shallow waters that they would be living alongside livebearers?

Re: Rio Danli

Hi, not sure where the Rio Danli per se is, but I sampled several creeks in the Danli area a few years ago. Besides HRPs, we collected Parachromis managuensis, Parachromis dovii, Astatheros longimanus, Amphilophus hogaboomorum, Poecilia cf. salvatoris, Poeciliopsis cf. turrubarensis, Rhamdia latica...

multispinosus ‘Rio Tempisque’

Does anyone keep them? Rapps has a bunch of different fish from Rio Tempisque. Could a small group of multispinosus live in a 6ft tank with a citrinellus, siquia, or loisellei in biotope tank?

Rio Danli

Anyone have any info or best guesses on fish found in Rio Danli besides the HRP? I would assume a parachromis is found in the area.

Kevin, I was wondring if you had any recent pictures of these amazing fish? Also, do you know if these part of the same population currently for sale on Rapps list?

Thorichthys maculipinnis biotope

Hey guys and gals, So I have been keeping cichlids for about a decade now and I am interested in creating a biotope around Thorichthys maculipinnis. I recently did a google search on them to see if any new information on the fish has been published and found a site that claimed they were in the uppe...

Amatitlania sp. ‘Honduran red point’

Does anyone keep these fish? What are they like? I was looking on Rapps site and he has them for sale. I have never kept them. I was wondering if they keep the deep blue/green in the body that is shown on the bottom of his cover page? Is that normal? Most that I have seen on the internet simply have...

Re: Astroheros Rostratus

My experience with robertsoni is quite different - I find them quite peacefull - but I keep them in groupes - of 6 or more. I also may just be lucky, I don't know. I do know, however, many books say they are agressive, but don't point to any traceble experience. The average size of my robertsoni is...

Re: Herichthys labridens 'yellow'

Thanks Dan.... As always you come through with some quality information. Let me toss this at you if I can... Are these guys found in smaller numbers or in pockets at all other than the Media Luna? I already knew Bartoni was found with them. Are there no other known cichlid types found with them? Not...

Herichthys labridens 'yellow'

In my opinion these are the most beautiful cichlids in the hobby. I've never actually owned them, but every time I see them I'm like wow. Does anyone know how aggressive they are in the aquarium? Are they like Carpintis? Also what other fish/ other cichlids are they found with in nature. Thanks

How old is the fish in these pictures? Is this how they look on a daily basis or just when in breeding dress? Aren't females less colorful in this species?

120 filtration help

Ok, I have a 120 up and running. No major problems, but I'm just not satisfied with my filtration setup. Currently, I am currently running a Tetra Tec 500. The thing is noisy, the water flow is uneven and simply seems like a piece of junk. Has anyone else used this filter? What kind of filtration sh...

Re: Astroheros Rostratus

What would be your educated guess on Bocourti or Pearsi making good tankmates with Rostratus?

Re: Astroheros Rostratus

I've always had my eye on these guys... I use to own Robertsoni. I always found trying to find tank mates to go with my Robertsoni difficult because the others where either to aggressive or got pushed around to the point I have to remove them. Are they my calmer? Who would make a good tank mate if I...
