Re: Cyathopharynx needs help

Pete, I have lost many a Foai over the years to what I have attributed to bloat. I have treated them successfully with metro and/ or Clout with success if caught early enough. The clear or white stringy feces is usually a pretty clear indicator. Both Foai and furcifer are difficult to adapt to new c...

Re: GET REGISTERED.....WHY WAIT?

Registration page has last years dates on it - do we use it as is or are there changes to be made at your end.

Re: Ridding tank of Malaysian trumpet snails

Thanks to all who posted. I tried several things, but it looks like the No Planaria really works! Thanks amiidae! I hit the tank twice and looks like it took most of them out, so maybe one more treatment will do the trick! Now to restock the tank. I guess I'll take out a second mortgage on the house...

Re: Ridding tank of Malaysian trumpet snails

Thanks dan and Miguel, yesterday I added another 25 assassin snails, and another 6 clown loaches. Added a bottle trap with algae wafers to manually trap more and it's now been 3 days since last feeding. Each of the assassin snails is busy attached to and devouring a trumpet snail, and the loaches ha...

Ridding tank of Malaysian trumpet snails

Keeping cichlids for over 40 years and I've never been as frustrated! I just lost 2/3 of my show tank of some beautiful w/c Tanganyikans, after all 3 filters shut down due to a gigantic explosion of these $&?# snails! I was away on business for 3 days and in that time, the snails completely clogged ...

Re: OCA Extravaganza 2010

Dan, You've made this year's OCA even that more unique with Heinz! All of us from Ottawa will be looking forward to seeing his talk. We started at two of us 5 yrs. ago, and we hope to bring down 16 this year. Great show and the best of them all. Well worth the drive. Hey Klaus...you buying the beer ...

Re: Best Tankmates for Tropheus

You could also try Simochromis "babaulti" or "diagrammis". I have babaulti with my colony of T.moori "musanga". They intermix well, and are not overly aggressive, although they hold their own when it comes to being harrassed. Klaus Steinhause wrote an excellent article this month in ACA buntbarshe b...

Re: ID please

I would concur with Klaus to being Chimba reds. They are definately not Cape Nundo(Golden Chisanse) I've kept them for over 10 years and I've never seen them colour like the photos posted.

Re: Please fix the weather!

Looks like a lot of snow along the Lake again this year for the OCA. Could someone with some influence do something about that for us and change the forecast. Good thing us Canucks have snow tires! Mark, don't worry about the snow in Cleveland. I told the border guard about you and they told that y...

Re: Tropheus Musanga

I remember seeing this post years ago, and had contemplated importing the fish myself. Subsequent to then I have had the fortune of importing the T. moori musanga from two seperate importers. One from the U.S. and one from Canada. I currently have a colony of 35 w/c adults and now about 40 fry from ...
