I have seen it cited many times that Costa Rican dovii and Nicaraguan dovii are so different that some are beginning to consider that they may actually be seperate species. I have not, however, seen these differences named specifically - can anyone be of any help?

P. motaguense variants

I seem to remember reading that the 'red tiger' variant of motaguense and the normal colour variant are sometimes found sympatrically.

Does anyone know whether this is true (and hence whether the two variants are found interbreeding in the wild - if so what are the offspring like?)

I thought it was about time I raised my head in this debate - I am Bluejax's co-conspirator in the xanthic jag production line (the female of the pair belonging to me)... Neither I nor Bluejax intend to sell the fish produced from this spawn as normal jags - if and when we do pass any on that hobbyi...
