Clarification

I need some help clarifying the following line...
having the ascending arm of the premaxilla longer than the dentigerous one.
Is this saying that the upper jaw bone is longer than the bone of the lower jaw?

Long Time, No Update!

Its been a while since theres been any sort of update posted here. Better late than never I guess. A lot has happened in the development of the GSG. We are now on facebook, and are starting a newsletter (email me at Mack@gymnogeophagus.com to be put on the mailing list). Much of the information on t...

Re: Input for Gymnogeophagus Dichotomous Key

Thanks greatly for the input. This is partly the reason i decided to create this, to help solve the problem of misinterpretation of text, such as i have done. 1) Although i think i understand what you mean, i would like to be sure. Could you possibly show an simple illustration or something? 2) Yet ...

Input for Gymnogeophagus Dichotomous Key

While looking over the key for this genus, seen here http://gymnogeophagus.com/key.php, i've decided to take this key and transfer it to a serious of illustrations that detail the differences between the species. I for one am more visually inclined, and found that understanding the text of the key w...

Re: Gymnogeophagus gymnogenys "Olimar" male holding?

Weird. I guess this pays tribute to the saying, Life finds a way. I read an article about an Apistogramma species that practiced both substrate brooding and mouth brooding. Applying each when in specific conditions. I'm curious to know if this is similar, a very specific circumstance has initiated p...

Re: Gymnogeophagus

I agree, felipe's site is an excellent source for pictures of Gymnos.

I don't know what sort of flora originates from Uruguay, and the surrounding countries but there are some very nice tetras, and catfish from those areas that would tolerate the colder water.

This is the idea in a sense. For those that understand, it will bring a good laugh. For those that don't, it will still make them laugh, but will hopefully leave them confused enough to check out the site and become a little more educated.
