what water chemistry do you keep nanoluteus under? i've NEVER been able to breed them and in fact, they generally tend to fade away after a year. my water is moderately hard, pH 7.4. variety of foods including greens.

i have a tank full of Herotilapia multispinosum and while not an expert, can say with certainty that the fish you've pictured looks nothing like them. multispinosum are more elongated while your fish appears 'rounded' in profile. i cast my vote for Archocentrus.

i've found them to be non-aggressive fish ... i think there's enough room for everyone to 'get along'.

i started off with 8 juveniles and ended up with 3 'pair', all obtained from Jeff Rapps. i keep them in a 300 gallon tank with about 20 other CA's including several pairs of Thorichthys pasiones, mextico blue, Herotilapia multispinosum, Archocentrus cutteri, Cryptoheros nanoluteus, Amphilophus longi...

sure looks like T. affinis to me. females should have that telltale odcelli on the dorsal fin.

panamense

i have a large group of this wonderful cichlid (my favorite) and find them easy to sex. given some time and growth, the males are significantly larger than females and females exhibit that ocelli on the dorsal fin.

"dwarf" Aequidens rivulatus ?

anyone aware of a "dwarf" Aequidens rivulatus? i've seen a few mentions of such a fish in some 'forums' but have read no scientific sources.
