Re: Amphilophus lyonsi SPAWNING on vid!

Lyonsi are/were found in both countries. The described type local is Costa Rica. To add more to this. They were in both Costa Rica and Panama. Lyonsi was not a top target species but an attempt was made. Nothing was found.

Re: Amphilophus lyonsi SPAWNING on vid!

Smitty, Thanks. Actually, I've heard / read the extinct in the wild on a few occasions. Not sure if 100% true yet. I spoke with Jeff Rapps a few weeks ago an out it when I was dropping off fry from this pair actually. He has heard rumors of the same but hasn't been able to confirm it. He said to me ...

Re: New Videos: A.lyonsi & C. nanoluteus

Always have fry. These two are very prolific. Every 4-5 weeks they are tending to more eggs. I grow the fry out for 3months and all of the growouts go to Tangledupincichlids

Re: Herichthys labridens - Media Luna "Yellow"

Actually, If i recall la Media Luna is VERY warm. I havent ket this species however, I have kept bartoni from the same collection point(and trip) that the yellow labs were collected. I had great success with the warm tank water in the mid 80s.

Re: Herichthys cyanoguttatus Santa tecla

Sure. Well, they ARE the same species as the "Texas" Cichlid Herichthys cyanoguttatus. Ive been working with this race since 2005 or 2006. I have noticed that this race does much better on an almost entirely veggie based diet. I have also not had any ever reach more than 10". These seem to max out a...

Paratheraps melanurus "Lago Peten" w/ FRY!

Paratheraps melanurus "Lago Peten" w/ FRY! The young pair got it right the first time. Fry are all over the tank, and the parents are doing a great job guarding them. Im going to try to pull about half of them out this weekend and grow them out before delivering them over to Jeff @ Tangled Up in Ci...

Re: Paratheraps melanurus 'Lago Peten' Breeding Colors

Thanks.
She doenst seem to be being bothered to badly by the pair. She actually went into breeding color today as well, and has taken up residence on the other end of the tank. The eggs hatched this morning. I only see a few wigglers but, they are in a tough spot to see.

Paratheraps melanurus 'Lago Peten' Breeding Colors

Paratheraps melanurus 'Lago Peten' Breeding Colors Got eggs on Tuesday, and the pair has been guarding them fiercely. I was able to snap some pics of the male very easily. I wanted to first reshow a pic I post a week ago of the same male. Last week: http://i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz145/KevinCum...

Paratheraps melanurus "Lago Peten" Guatemala

Paratheraps melanurus "Lago Peten" Guatemala Out of a dozen I ended up keeping a M/F/F Trio. The females are about 4" and the male is close to 6". The females are starting to display breeding colors but the male can care less.. They are in a 6' 180gallon tank and are the only cichlids in the tank. ...
