Hello Chris & Missy, If you supplied more info you may get more responses (and better ones too!). What size tank, how many Tropheus in the colony, what size are they, how long have they been in the tank, have they been breeding, and how is the tank laid out (decorations, hiding places, etc). Regards...

Looking for a job

OCA Shirts with Member Names

Hello Everyone!

Do any of the old timers out there remember what year the OCA had a T-shirt made with all of the current member's names printed on the back?

If you remember let me know.

Thanks,

Tyler

Re: filter cartridges

I use the new carts that come with the filter for about one month. Then I take them out, make a slit across the top of the blue material, shake out all of the carbon. Then you can reuse the carts over and over until the blue material gets too worn. Mine last for over a year this way.

Re: Heaters

I have had that happen, but with really old heaters. Indicator light on, but heater not hot at all. I have also had the opposite, indicator light not working at all, but the heater was actually working.

Re: Heaters

A couple of other things to try/check. Are your heaters below the filter intakes so that the heated water gets pulled into the filter and then dispersed throughout the tank? Have you put your hand on the heaters when the light is on to feel if the heaters are actually hot?

Re: Heaters

Jom,

Quick thought. How confident are you in the thermometer that is giving the tank temp? Maybe heaters working, thermometer not so much.

Re: "set aside water"

How I handle water changes on 10 gallon fry tanks where the fry are susceptible to changes in water conditions: I do a large water change on one of my 55 or 75 gallon tanks and then the next day I do the water change on the 10 gallon fry tank using water directly out of the 55 or 75 where I just did...

Re: Dividers

Try egg crate ceiling tiles (light defusers). Home Depot or Lowes carry these. A sheet is fairly cheap and you can easily cut it to the size you need.
