Geophagus ID

I got 10 of these in summer 2010.Any gues what species are they? abalios maybe? I got them as Geophagus sp. Areoes,but as they grow,they show stripes on the tail...
They are about 15 cm now...

Few pictures of Geophagus
Can anyone help with ID? I thought they are sp. Areoes,but stripes on the tail... Abalios maybe??? Guianacaras are removed in another tank.They bothered Rotkeils while spawning

New tank setup :) ignore the little "thing" at the top left corner of the aquarium, it is currently home to "Geophagus" steindachneri fry

I will post some of mine when they grow up in a couple of months.So far,no new color on them,and they are doing fine... I bet on labiatus :wink:

Maybe they were scared of the low position of the tank? I thought the same thing in the begining.Cichlids who are now in the tank,don't have problem with that.And also I have few tanks at that position and cichlids are ok... Well...this tank is now home to centralamerican cichlids. Geophagus sp. Areoes ,Heros sp. Rotkeil and Guianacara geayi,are removed to another tank.They were to frightened in this one.Dont know why?It lasted too long and I didn't want to look my fish scared,so I removed them to another tank,and they ...

Is this Amphilophus labiatus?

Hi.
Is this Amphilophus labiatus?I got it under citrinelus name,but as they grow up,they are starting to look more like labiatus.They develop fatty lips,and have more elongated body than citrinelus.Also the shape of the lips(looked from above) is triangular.

yes,I know that.There wont be much leaves,and Geophagus are still small.But tank looks nice with leaves,even in a beginning. :) Leaves are primary here because of pH lowering.My tap water is 7,and this fishes need 6,5 or less.In my experience,Oak leaves are good thing for lowering pH.Also,tap water ...

Here is picture of my new Eartheater tank.As always,natural setup :D At the moment,this tank is home to about 40 Geophagus steindachneri fry.They will be removed soon,and group of Geophagus sp. tank is 150x60x50 cm or 450 liters I used fine river sand <1 mm,but it will be replaced soon with quartz sand <0,6 mm because it should be neutral for water parameters I am planing to setup new tank for Geophagus next month so there should be pictures from that tank to :wink: Good luck with your tan...

This is a picture of mine South American tank.I like it natural/biotope :)
Maybe a little bit more open sand areas than in this tank would be fine for Geophagus.
