Re: Suggested improvements to the forum

Spam bots are just part fo the net. Owners, administrators and moderators do the best they can.
The ones I hate are the people who are now paid to register accounts that are later handed over to
a bot... The only solutions I see for that are a bit too drastic to implement.

Juan,

The forum images are not lining up correctly in the latest firefox. I am not sure what the issue is exactly.
You can see it in the attached image.

Re: tapatalk integration

Tapatalk integration is rather easy. The feedback I have gotten is that my iphone users love it and my android users prefer using the browser.

Been a long time.

I've been awol a very long time so I guess an update is due. I have spent my free time writing a photo contest application. The contest is a test case for driving the undercarriage of the cichlidbase into it's next phase. I am embedding the cb into vbulletin for functionality and bug fixing as well ...

Re: bots?

recaptcha helps some but many of the current crop of spam accounts are started by humans. After th accounts are registered the bots take over.

Re: Suggestion

Sorry about getting lost for so long Juan. I have a few paid and free projects in the running so adding this one should provide a little variety. I will go back through our emails and see what I can do.

Re: stopping the image being cut off

It's not the screen it's the resolution. The 21 I am on right now is set to 1024x768 and clips the images, whereas my nice 19 inch runs at 1600x1200 and does not clip.

Re: stopping the image being cut off

The second one may be worth trying. The first one, while a great mod, is for a previous version of the phpBB.
I wish I was still running a tester of phpBB somewhere. I might have someone willing to test it out though.

I never noticed that the menu for cichlidae.com is java script based. Over time it may be a good idea to shift that to css and html. I only noticed because I have my javascript turned off.

Re: Illegal Use of Cichlid Photographs

There is absolutely no way to stop someone from taking anything posted publicly on the net. It is a trivial matter for a decent programmer to write code designed to circumvent protections. This was one of the reasons I hesitated protecting images in the CB, I decided I would code in some nuisances t...

Re: Illegal Use of Cichlid Photographs

I have a very humorous thread on my forum written by our founder a lawyer. It goes into pictures and copyrights and backs up Lisa. Or you could find out who their host is and report them to their provider. They are hosted by Psychz Networks . From the acceptable use policy of the host, found at http...

I can label it as a juvenile (sexless) unless Marius provides his reasoning. Words are failing me a little, that is not meant as a challenge more an expression of my dedication to the information presented.

Klaus, amazing shots. They certainly settle that the original subject is not J .marlieri. I guess I will need to get clarification from the importer.
