Re: Crenicichla vaillanti and other French Guyana saxatiloide pikes

Thanks again Rico. After looking closely to the lectotype I agree with you, even if they are not clearly visible the black blotches on the dorsal fin are in the middle of the fin ! About locality, for C. vaillanti, we have Mana River, but we don't have the exact place, right ? it could be on the mai...

Re: Crenicichla vaillanti and other French Guyana saxatiloide pikes

Rico, thanks a lot. So return to beginning, maybe or maybe no iridescent spots ! I read the description of Crenicichla vaillanti (Pellegrin 1903) , I also read Pellegrin (1904) , the description of C. albopunctata is ... brief but for Crenicichla vaillanti more details are given In French first : "u...

Re: New Apistogramma

Maybe A. sp Kelleri is the yet undescribed form cited in the paper. On the basis of cluster analysis studies of the phylogenetic relationships within the genus (RöMeR, 2006c), these two species, along with a further, as yet undescribed, form , constitute the Apistogramma barlowi subcomplex within th...

Re: ID SOS Cichlids collected Rio Napo near Mazan

Hi, welcome here. The two aequidens species can eat small fish. The first one is more likely Aequidens sp. Jenaro herrera, close to A. Diadema but with a different breeding beahviour. Cichlid 4 is a Bujurquina for sure but which species will be difficult to know, un les you have the exact location a...

Re: Satanoperca pappaterra

The choice of tank mates is very important for Satanoperca. Fast eating fish like Cichlasoma or Metynnis should be avoid. The most difficult point is feeding, difference between pantanal or xingu isn't important.

Aequidens gerciliae is another one.

Edit :

In Aequidens gerciliae description are mentionned : Crenicichla gunetheri, C. isbrueckeri, C. pellegrini and A. tetramerus.
I guess one or two Crenicichla are now synonyms ... so you have the species
