Re: Lemon Jake vs. Sunshine
To better Identify this fish a whole profile shot level with the fish would be helpful. In trying to do this kind of Identification at my house as well the head is one of the most obvious places they differ.

Re: Stock plan ?
Hello Ukkeeper, I do not think you would be happy with your stock plan, because in about a week to a month you would be only looking at one or two fish. There are two websites I like to look at for help with cichlids. First is the cichlid room companion, https://www.cichlidae.com/ this is behind a p...

Re: Species help me malawi cichlid
Hello Timothy, I can tell you that the one in the pot looks to be a L. caeruleus. The other one however looks to have a blue nose? I am not sure if this is a lighting effect or if that is how it looks in your tank. L. caeruleus has basically 2 color morphs, Yellow and white, and you have the yellow ...

Re: New 90 gallon tank setup, is this filter enough?
Yes an FX6 will be plenty of filtration for a 90 gal. with 20ish peacocks. One thing that you may want to add is an airstone to add some more oxygen into the tank, the one problem with an FX6 in my opinion is that they do not create a lot of surface agitation. So with having a large number of cichli...

Re: New to cichlids, need help
Hello Sleigh, congratulations on wanting to jump more into the world of cichlids! Also before we talk about additional tankmates it would help to know what size tank we are talking about and if you should add more fish to it. Secondly I would also return the Male peacock that you recently bought, or...

Re: Mysterious Mass Death
I am sorry for your loss as well, As Deeda had pointed out and it came as a red flag to me as well that your nitrites are above zero and your nitrates are actually zero. That is an indication of a non-cycled aquarium, or an insufficient cycle. On the topic of the filters, the carbon filter should ge...

On the topic of the center brace, I currently have a 55 gallon tank that has not had an intact center brace for 4 or more years and it has been holding fine. But this doesn't mean the same will happen for you. There is a couple options to fix it. The first one is to drain the tank, find a new frame ...

Re: New here and question about water testing
Hello, this may be a bit late to help out any issues you may have had but for future reference if anyone else had this issue. You stated that you have had the tank for about 2 weeks and have 7 fish in it and are having an issue with ammonia. This is a problem with new tanks that have not been cycled...

Re: mixing feather fins
I think it would be helpful if you told us how large the tank is (liters, length, width, and height) then we can help you with stocking options. To most people a 1200 liter tank would be large but I think you are alluding to something much larger.

Re: Setting up a Lake Tanganyika tank
For the stock load you are putting in the tank one aquaclear should be good and you would be able to maybe put in another 5 fish. As they get larger the bioload will increase and then you may need to add another filter, but for now it should be enough.
